Mackenzie (pop. 3400) is located 180km North of Prince George.The area is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise with a well-developed trail system for hiking, biking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter, a 9-hole golf course, a ski hill in town, and numerous lakes for fishing.Powder King Mountain Resort is a downhill ski resort just 40 minutes away and boasts an amazing annual snowfall of 41 feet.

The Library Director is responsible for library operations in accordance with the policies, objectives, and strategic plan approved by the Library Board.

The ideal candidate will have:

- ALA-accredited degree (MLIS preferred), or an equivalent amount of education and experience
- Two years’ experience working in a public library
- Experience and capability in cataloguing and acquisitions
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, as well as a proficiency in administration and supervision
- Ease with and thorough knowledge of automated library systems, communication technology including email and social media, and office software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in a Windows environment
- Ability to develop and manage services that promote and support the organization’s mission and strategic direction
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles
- Experience writing successful grant proposals
- Ability to create a positive, collaborative working environment through leading, directing, inspiring and empowering staff
- A proven ability to forge strong working relationships and effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated, strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Broad awareness of library trends and library best practices
- Experience managing staff in a unionized environment and negotiating collective agreements an asset
- Demonstrated dedication to lifelong learning, continuing education and leadership training for self and others
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings as required
- Able and willing to travel to work related meetings outside the Mackenzie area
