The Department of Library & Information Technology (LibIT) invites applications for one (1) full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The date of appointment is January 1, 2020.

Located within the Faculty of Professional Studies, LibIT offers the Library and Information Technology Diploma in both online and on-campus formats as well as the Library Technician Post-diploma online certificate, in conjunction with Continuing Education.

We seek collegial applicants who demonstrate our shared passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centred environment; who successfully integrate both current technologies and their scholarship into teaching; and who are experienced in the delivery of high-quality service in communities of practice, particularly libraries and related information centres.

The minimum educational requirements are a Master of Library & Information Studies (MLIS) from an American Library Association-accredited program and five years of full-time, professional experience. Applicants without the minimum qualifications will not be considered. An earned PhD in LIS or a related field is strongly preferred. Doctoral candidates will also be considered. Previous instructional experience in a postsecondary setting, either in-person or online, is a definite asset. Experience with the Blackboard course management system is a definite asset.

The successful candidate will teach a range of subjects across the Diploma Program, including foundational and elective courses. The candidate will be required to teach face-to-face on the Abbotsford campus and online. Professors at UFV teach, conduct scholarship, and participate in service activities. They are also expected to commit to ongoing professional development related to their teaching, scholarship, and service.
