The Libraries Branch, as part of the Teacher Regulation, Independent Schools and Public Libraries (TRIPL) Division within in the Ministry of Education oversees the legislative and governance framework for public libraries. It provides stability to public libraries and library boards by providing leadership, advice, funding and coordination of province-wide programs and initiatives. We are looking for a looking for a flexible and service-orientated team player who rises to challenges presented by our exciting portfolios supporting the promotion, improvement and extension of equitable public library service and community literacy throughout B.C.

The Research Analyst is responsible for operating the statistical and grants portfolio of the branch as part of the accountability framework for public libraries. This is done by managing the collection, auditing and publication of library data. The position also develops and conducts quantitative and qualitative research analyses based on internal and external sources of data and provides conclusions and recommendations through briefings, presentations and various data and information reports for the Ministry and the BC public library community..

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or a social science field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered (i.e. related diploma plus two years related experience; OR related certificate plus four years related experience).
  • Experience with data question collection, management and survey questionnaire design.
  • Must have experience in using MS Excel, preference may be given to applicant with intermediate to advanced skills.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in data analysis and conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
