
Job Summary
North Vancouver City Library is seeking an organized, analytical and service-oriented Library Services Coordinator (Collections & Technical Services) to join our team (regular full-time, 70 hours bi-weekly).
This is a supervisory role reporting to the Manager of Collections, Communications and Operations. The successful candidate will coordinate library operations and service delivery in the portfolio area of collections and technical services. This position also participates in public service delivery.
This position is responsible to supervise and support professionals and paraprofessionals engaged in collection development and management, interlibrary loans, acquisitions, cataloguing, and processing activities. You will bring your knowledge of best practices and emerging priorities in public library collection management and technical services to coordinate and evaluate highly responsive collections in support of strategic, community and operational priorities and outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
• Overseeing the selection, acquisition, cataloguing, processing and deselection of library materials in a variety of formats, in accordance with established policies and standards
• Monitoring collection performance and analyzing data to identify trends and inform recommendations for changes
• Planning, implementing and evaluating departmental initiatives and processes, working in collaboration across portfolios and departments
• Communicating with the public and staff about collections matters, including responding to requests for reconsideration in alignment with the library’s policies and commitment to intellectual freedom
• Monitoring budgets for library materials and ensuring spending is timely, accurate and consistent with the budget and the library’s purchasing and accounting practices
• Providing regular and timely coaching and feedback to staff in portfolio areas, and participating in hiring and personnel management processes
• Participating in departmental and library-wide planning and budget development
• Participating in collection maintenance and technical services activities and delivery of information and readers advisory services
• Regularly serving as the designated point person (“front end”) to coordinate a response to urgent and emergent facility, personnel and customer issues

Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Library Science from a program accredited or recognized as an equivalent by the American Library Association (ALA), plus sound related experience including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Interest and experience in accessibility, Indigenization and DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) as they relate to library collections and cataloguing are an asset. Experience with both the back end and front end of the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS system and BiblioCommons discovery layer is also an asset.
North Vancouver City Library is currently piloting a flexible work arrangement for full-time employees resulting in an additional rest day during each two-week period.

Sunday – 9 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Monday – 1 – 9:15 p.m.
Tuesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Week 2
Monday – 12:45 – 9:15 p.m.
Tuesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Schedules are reviewed periodically and subject to change with minimum two weeks’ notice. Evenings and weekends may be required.
