The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager, Information Technology, this role is responsible for providing operational support, maintenance and management of the Library’s network and server infrastructure and public and staff workstations and peripherals. This role is also tasked with the provision of direct client support to staff and the public by identifying, analyzing, resolving, and documenting computer related support issues and requests for assistance, ensuring an exceptional customer service experience. As the Assistant, Network and Support, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Provide professional customer service to internal IT clients by responding to and prioritizing requests for technology-related assistance
- Develop and maintain internal support tracking and resulting knowledge bases including frequently asked questions to aid in problem resolution
- Provide staff with guidance and recommendations in the appropriate use of hardware and software while promoting learning and improved self-reliance
- Support with Special Projects:
- Assist with securing staff and public/Wi-Fi networks, including (but not limited to) VLAN/Subnet reprogramming, cabling, testing, desktop/laptop/mobile device reprogramming, and software installation
- Assist in developing a documentation library for regular IT tasks
- Create self-serve documentation for library staff to troubleshoot common issues
- Setting up of new equipment, sometimes remotely, and retiring/repurposing old equipment
- Facilitate concise, accurate, two-way and timely communication of departmental issues, incident and/or user complaints to the Manager, Information Technology and/or the appropriate member of the management teams.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic student who is returning in Fall 2025 to a post-secondary program related to Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Our ideal candidate has experience working with Windows desktop and server operating systems, Active Directory and imaging, setting up and troubleshooting end-user hardware.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in emerging and maker technologies. We are seeking an individual with Excellent technical writing skills and organization and the ability to identify innovative solutions within limited resources.
This position offers a rate of pay of $20.62-$25.77 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week.
Satisfactory proof of schooling or return to school, may be requested.
