
Job Summary
North Vancouver City Library is seeking a creative, organized and compelling storyteller with a sharp eye for detail to join our team as Public Engagement & Awareness Coordinator (regular full-time, 70 hours bi-weekly).
This is a supervisory role reporting to the Manager of Collections, Communications and Operations, and is responsible for coordinating the planning, creation, and delivery of promotional materials, public engagement and strategic communications to support library programs and services.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of communications to enhance public awareness of the library, highlight its value to the community, and share its success stories. As our Public Engagement & Awareness Coordinator, you will work with a small team to implement and maintain streamlined production workflows for high-quality, attractive original print, digital and multimedia communications materials. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and library leadership to plan effective and compelling communications. Your work will be varied and diverse and will include preparing and editing copy for public relations materials, selecting and creating visual and multimedia materials, preparing key corporate communications, aiding in messaging, supporting public engagement and major events, and more.
Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinating the development and production of print, digital and multimedia communication materials and promotion of library programs and services
• Overseeing the ongoing enhancement of the library’s website and online presence
• Facilitating public engagement to inform planning and evaluation of library programs and services
• Maintaining the library’s brand and style guidelines to ensure consistency across all communications
• Managing communications processes and workflows to ensure efficient production and timely distribution of content
• Contributing to the planning, development and evaluation of comprehensive communication strategies
• Monitoring and managing the departmental budget, thus ensuring expenditures are accurate, timely, and aligned with the library’s financial policies and procedures
• Providing ongoing coaching, guidance and performance feedback to team members and participating in recruitment, hiring, and other personnel management activities.

Qualifications
A university degree or diploma in a discipline related to the work, plus considerable experience, including work in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. IAP2 or similar certification is an asset.
A thorough understanding of the technologies and tools specific to the development of communications materials, websites and social media platforms is required. Familiarity with the Drupal environment is an asset.
The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of strategic communications, a keen eye for design, and excellent verbal and written communication skills to round out their technical skill set.
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: $42.45 – $50.13/hour (pay grade 24; 2024 rates) + benefits
Schedule: North Vancouver City Library is currently piloting a flexible work arrangement for full-time employees resulting in an additional rest day during each two-week period.

Monday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tuesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday – 8:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Week 2
Monday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tuesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday – 8:45 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Schedules are reviewed periodically and subject to change with minimum two weeks’ notice. Evenings and weekends may be required.
