Job Summary
Full-time contract, 12 month position (possibility of extension).
Band 4 $64,272. OLA uses a salary grid based on years of service, with COLA increases considered annually by the Board.
Remote (Ontario-based), with in-person collaboration and programming as needed.
The Ontario Library Association (OLA) is looking for a creative, organized, and people-focused Training & Event Producer to help deliver engaging learning experiences for library workers across Ontario.
This is a role for someone who loves bringing people together—whether through conferences, workshops, webinars, library tours, podcasts, or other educational programs.
Working alongside volunteers, committees, speakers, and community partners, you’ll help create learning opportunities that are relevant, accessible, welcoming, and impactful.
From virtual events to in-person conferences, you’ll play a key role in designing programs, coordinating logistics, supporting speakers, and ensuring participants have an exceptional experience.
How will you spend your time?
Design and deliver educational programs
- Lead the planning and delivery of workshops, webinars, conferences, tours, podcasts, and other learning experiences.
- Support volunteer planning committees, communities of practice, and sector partners.
- Identify emerging topics, recruit speakers, and help shape engaging programs.
- Collect and analyze participant feedback and use those insights to strengthen future programming.
- Help coordinate OLA’s annual calendar of professional development opportunities.
Deliver exceptional events
- Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.
- Coordinate logistics including venues, catering, audiovisual services, event technology, onsite registration and sales, and vendors.
- Onboard and support speakers before and during events.
- Serve as a virtual host and provide live event support and troubleshooting.
- Support flagship events including OLA Super Conference, the Forest of Reading Festival, and other major initiatives.
- Help ensure all events are welcoming, accessible, and inclusive.
Create engaging communications
- Develop content for websites, newsletters, social media, and event promotions.
- Coordinate attendee, speaker, sponsor, and stakeholder communications.
- Collaborate with OLA’s communications team to support marketing efforts.
- Maintain digital assets and event resources.
- Contribute to clear, consistent, and audience-focused messaging across OLA programs.
Building relationships and partnerships
- Develop strong relationships with volunteers, speakers, vendors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Support committees and communities of practice throughout the year.
- Help strengthen OLA’s connections across the library sector and related fields.
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and partners to achieve program goals.
Support innovative learning opportunities
- Coordinate library tours and special programming initiatives.
- Help maintain OLA’s educational archives and online learning resources.
- Support the production of the Library Land Loves podcast.
- Monitor trends and emerging opportunities in libraries, education, and event delivery.
- Contribute ideas that keep OLA’s professional learning opportunities fresh, relevant, and responsive.

- Experience in event planning, adult education, program coordination, digital event production, or related field.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- Experience working with volunteers, committees, partners, or stakeholder groups.
- Confidence using Zoom and other virtual event platforms.
- Experience working with WordPress, Canva, or similar digital tools.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
Bonus if you bring:
- French language skills.
- Experience working in a professional association, membership organization, or non-profit setting.
- Video editing and digital content production experience.
- Familiarity with the library sector.
