
Job Summary
The West Vancouver Memorial Library (WVML) is well known as an innovative and award-winning library that prioritizes inclusion, a learning culture, organizational integrity, and enhancing community through our programs, services, and relationships. WVML is currently seeking a permanent, part-time Public Service Assistant to be based out of the Technology Department. Reporting to the Library Services Coordinator—Digital Experience and working alongside a motivated high-performing team, the Public Service Assistant is responsible for providing service to customers in the Community Computing Centre in person, over the phone, and via email; providing technology support to staff; and assisting with various technology related projects.
The successful candidates will possess:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
- The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Working knowledge of PC and Mac platforms and software applications, mobile device and e-reader platforms, apps, social networking tools, library catalogues, photocopiers and scanners, and an ability to instruct and assist customers in the use of these tools; and,
- Knowledge of photo, video and sound editing software, digitization equipment and software, basic desktop publishing, accessibility software, programming languages, and virtual instruction tools, like video conferencing platforms would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate must enjoy assisting customers on an individual basis. This position is ideally suited to someone with patience, who is adaptable and can multi-task, who is calm under pressure, and who enjoys and has the ability to troubleshoot technology related questions and problems.
The preferred candidate will have: a certificate or diploma in Library studies or computer information technology or system.
The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work: 21 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Starting Rate of Pay: $30.22 per hour
