Position Summary

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Specialist, this position is responsible for supporting and executing marketing and communications initiatives that enhance the Library’s community profile, increase engagement, and drive library usage.

The incumbent develops, manages, executes, and evaluates integrated marketing and communications activities across multiple channels, including print, digital, social media, and in-branch experiences. This includes creating and managing content, supporting campaigns, and ensuring a consistent brand presence across all touchpoints. Additionally, this position plays a key role in the design and production of marketing materials, website content updates and visual storytelling through photography and video, with the overall goal of increasing awareness, participation, and the use of Library services.

This position works out of the Georgetown and Acton Branches or at event locations and reports to the Marketing and Communications Specialist.

Position Details

  • Creates, develops, edits and implements marketing materials and content across print and digital channels.
  • Compiles, creates, edits schedules and publishes original content for HHPL’s digital platforms including social media, website, and e-newsletters.
  • Develops engaging written, visual, and multimedia content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
  • Supports the planning and execution of social and digital media strategies and campaigns, including overseeing the production of content that communicates the value of Library programs and services to key audiences.
  • Tracks and analyzes performance metrics across marketing and communications channels, prepares reports on key findings, and monitors trends to evaluate effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Utilizes marketing and digital tools to schedule content, manage campaigns, design and send email communications to subscribers.
  • Develops and produces high-quality materials for print and digital platforms to support and enhance initiatives while applying graphic design principles and technologies.
  • Applies accessibility, usability, and search optimization best practices when developing and updating content; measures web traffic and monitors search engine optimization.
  • Contributes to the development of a cohesive and user focused online experience across web and digital touchpoints, working in partnership with IT to support website functionality and enhancements
  • Captures and produces photography and video content to support marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Assists in maintaining the integrity of the Library website by writing, editing and updating content to ensure accuracy, relevance and alignment with brand standards.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with Library and Town staff, local and regional partners, media, area businesses and the public.
  • Builds awareness throughout the community of the Library’s role and actively seeks marketing and communications opportunities to enhance the Library’s image and perception.
  • Perform other job-related duties.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in designing and production of marketing materials including digital, print and social media.
  • Experience in creative design with understanding of brand alignment for diverse audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of current trends and issues affecting public libraries.
  • Proficiency with marketing and communications software platforms, including Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and relevant social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations and acts, including copyright, CASL, and AODA.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.

Desirable

  • An undergraduate university degree in a related field is an asset
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and cloud storage
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Access to a vehicle

Hours:                                                

  • 35 hours per week
  • This is an in-facility position
  • May be required to travel to event locations outside of library facility
  • May work days, evenings, and weekends in both Acton and Georgetown branches or at event locations

Compensation: $66,210 – 78,822 annually + competitive benefits and pension
