
Job Summary
The Library has an opening for a full-time Information Services Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager of Public Services, this position assists with overseeing the daily operations of the Public Service Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with overseeing the daily operations of the Public Service Department including scheduling, planning, supervising, training, and coordinating workflow activities within the department.
- Provides input into the creation, implementation, and management of Public Services policies and procedures.
- Works with the Senior Customer Services Specialist to ensure effective and efficient delivery of public services following established policies and procedures.
- Manages the interlibrary loan (ILLO) functions using an online system and ensures that materials both deliveries and shipments are managed efficiently and quickly.
- Ensures patrons adherence to Library’s rules of conduct.
- Investigates and acts upon library visitor comments, compliments, and challenges.
- Supports the Emerging Technologies Specialist in maintaining daily operations of the Creative Lab, including facilitating access, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment, resources, and technologies.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma in Library and Information Technology.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a public library with preference given to those who have supervisory experience.
- Experience and understanding of Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and other associated library software (mobile devices, e-readers, Playaways, iPads and tablets).
- Familiarity with the range and scope of both electronic and print information resources found in a public library.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster cooperative working relationships and maintain diplomacy and integrity.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
- Ability to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
- This position includes days, evenings, and weekend shifts as part of a regular schedule.
Compensation
$72,782 to $88,468
