Position Summary
East Gwillimbury Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual for the position of Customer Service Specialist. This role delivers quality member experience through excellent, anticipatory, and responsive customer service, engaging members by proactively addressing or redirecting queries from a single service point and managing circulation transactions. The positions supports the Manager, Customer Experience, in the Library’s marketing initiatives. As we look forward to an exciting year ahead with the opening of a new branch, this position offers a unique opportunity to be part of our growth and innovation.

All employees of the East Gwillimbury Public Library are part of a unified team and may be scheduled to work at any of our three locations—Holland Landing, Mount Albert, or Queensville. While each Customer Service Specialist position is assigned a base location for administrative and scheduling purposes, this may change based on operational needs. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as staff may be required to support services across all branches.

Qualifications
• Successful completion of a college diploma, or a combination of post-secondary education and equivalent experience as determined by the employer.
• Minimum 1-year of public service experience.
• Provide superior customer service with the ability to work with a diverse group of people and uphold the value of inclusion.
• Ability to provide general reference, reader’s advisory, and circulation services.
• Knowledge of and experience with providing training with various technologies.
• Knowledge of marketing and merchandising, such as creating promotional material and content for social media and using tools such as Canva.
• Strong problem solving, mature judgment, exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to function well in a busy environment and work with minimal supervision.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Fluency in English (verbal, writing, and reading).
• Experience with SirsiDynix Symphony integrated library system an asset.
• Some travel between branches may be required.
• Successful candidate will be required to produce a police check dated within 6 months.

Compensation
$30.53 - $35.91hourly
Schedule: 40 hours bi-weekly, including evenings and weekends.
