POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Creative Technologies Specialist takes a leadership role in the planning, development, and delivery of dynamic, high-quality programming and services that connect community members of all ages to technology and digital skills. Working as part of our Creative Making & Discovery team, this position focuses on enhancing community engagement and digital literacy through programming in the HackLAB and MediaLAB spaces, as well as through computer classes and personalized tech help.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and coordinating innovative digital literacy programs for diverse age groups and skill levels.
  • Delivering engaging, hands-on workshops and one-on-one support for technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, Cricut machines, Adobe Suite and more.
  • Collaborating with other staff to ensure seamless integration of digital literacy initiatives into library programming.
  • Staying updated on trends in library programming, Makerspace tools, and educational technologies.
  • Supporting front-line library services and contributing to outreach initiatives.

    Qualifications of our ideal candidate include:

  • A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or degree in Technology, Design, Education, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in program development and delivery; a focus on digital literacy and technology is an asset.
  • Strong tech skills and the ability to quickly learn and use new digital tools or technologies.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality programs for diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to flexibility, including availability for evening and weekend programs, and the ability to work across multiple Library branches.
  • Significant knowledge of library programming trends including Makerspace equipment, robotics, coding and educational technologies is an asset.
  • Pay Rate: $39.53 – $46.50 per hour
