The West Vancouver Memorial Library is currently seeking a creative, energetic, organized individual to take on a Replacement Temporary Full-Time Library Services Coordinator with the Customer & Community Experience department for approximately 12 months.. Reporting to the Head of Customer & Community Experience, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating service delivery specific to the Library’s Customer and Community Experience and Collections Portfolio which includes Accessible Services and shared responsibility for the Help Desk;
  • Participating in departmental planning and the formulation of departmental policies and procedures;
  • Overseeing and providing direct public service such as community conversations and collaborations, programming, customer assistance;
  • Supervising and scheduling the work of librarian and clerical staff, as well as volunteers;
  • Interviewing and hiring new staff and volunteers, providing training and development, and conducting performance appraisals;
  • Provides information and assistance to the public regarding library materials, procedures, regulations and resources;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of and outcomes from service delivery;
  • Resolving problems concerning patrons, staff, departmental operations, services, and facilities;
  • Maintaining awareness and knowledge of professional trends through reading, professional development, and participation in related associations and conferences; and
  • Performing related work as required.

The successful candidate will possess: Master’s Degree in Library Science from a program accredited or recognized as an equivalent by the American Library Association; three or more years of professional library experience; some supervisory experience and/or training; considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of librarianship; and sound knowledge of the methods, techniques, practices, and procedures related to the implementation of library programs, projects and services.

The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status: Union (WVMEA) – Replacement Temporary Full-Time

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Starting Rate of Pay: $43.79 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits

(This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.)
