Position Summary:

Our Library is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Collections Management Lead to oversee and shape the future of our Collections Services. Reporting directly to the Library Director, you’ll play a crucial role on our senior management team, guiding the direction of our print and electronic collection management and access services to meet the diverse needs of our community. This position offers the flexibility of full-time or four-day work weeks, tailored to the ideal candidate's needs.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of ownership and initiative to oversee the development, organization, and accessibility of our Library collections.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $26.20 - $32.31 per hour, dependent on education and experience
  • Option for either full-time or four-day work weeks
  • Benefits through Alberta Blue Cross
  • Pension through LAPP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Serve as a key member of the Library’s team, collaborating with the Library Director, Marketing Coordinator, and the Community Literacy Librarian on library-wide initiatives.
  • Service Planning: Contribute to all aspects of service planning.
  • Innovation: Develop, recommend, and implement innovative, forward-looking plans to achieve the Library’s goals.
  • Collection Development: Lead the development of the Library’s collections, utilizing an evidence-based approach for the selection, promotion, and de-acquisition of materials. Selection for multiple collections.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the collections budget, ensuring effective allocation and responsible expenditure.
  • Enhance Customer Experience: Ensure materials are accessible, discoverable, and user-friendly – in-house, in Bibliocommons, and on our website.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor selection staff, fostering a collaborative, enthusiastic, and highly effective team.
  • Promotion: Collaborate with marketing and communications, making data-driven decisions to effectively promote collections across various platforms.
  • Help Desk: Provide excellent customer service by working regular shifts at the Help Desk, offering readers’ advisory, reference services, and supporting patrons needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MLS/MLIS or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of three to five years of experience, preferably in collection development.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with ILS systems, particularly SirsiDynix Horizon, is an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Experience with troubleshooting e-reading devices and e-resources.
  • Commitment to Excellence: A strong commitment to service excellence and community-focused service delivery.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
