The Role:

We are looking for a Manager, Collections Services to support our Knowledge, Information and Technology Services Branch (KITS). The ideal candidate will be someone who shares NRC’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Working as part of the Library and Information Management Services (LIMS) team, the Collections Services Manager supports LIMS’s role as the National Science Library and provider of knowledge and information to NRC and the Canadian innovation community. The incumbent of this position’s main responsibilities are to:

  • Lead a team of 7 staff responsible for the provision of the following services to NRC clients: front line library support; circulation; archives; rare book room; document delivery; interlibrary loan; acquisitions; collection holdings maintenance; troubleshooting; and copyright and scholarly publishing support.
  • Forecast, monitor, update and report on the NRC collection budget.
  • Oversee collection holdings maintenance and updates in library systems.
  • Initiate and coordinate various projects and service improvement initiatives, working with other LIMS managers and the Collections Services team.

You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of LIMS processes and services across the NRC. You will be part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team where communication and teamwork are important.


Education:

- An ALA accredited M.L.S./M.L.I.S. degree


Experience:

  • *A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in an equivalent management position (leading team, managing human resources and managing projects).
  • **Significant experience in the management and delivery of library services.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience in interpreting policies, procedures, and/or contracts
  • Experience with the Government of Canada financial and procurement processes and regulations, this experience is an asset.

**Significant is defined as depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities over a period of at least three (3) years in the last five (5) years.


Technical Competencies:

  • Significant knowledge of collections management principles and practices, including acquisitions and electronic resources management.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, standards, systems, and best practices in copyright, scholarly communications, digital collections, acquisitions, publishing and open access.
  • Knowledge of tools and solutions used to enable library services (ERM, repositories, discovery layers, digital collections management, library portal, etc.).
  • Knowledge of theories, principles and practices associated with the design and delivery of services to clients.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and sustain stakeholder relationships in a professional environment.

Le rôle:

Nous sommes à la recherche d’une personne pour occuper le poste d’un/une Gestionnaire des services des collections pour supporter la Direction des services du savoir, de l’information et des technologies. La personne idéale partage les valeurs fondamentales du CNRC relatives à l’intégrité, à l’excellence, au respect et à la créativité.

Travaillant au sein des Services de Bibliothèque et de Gestion de l’Information (SBGI), la personne retenue sera appelée à appuyer les opérations de la Bibliothèque scientifique nationale et la prestation de services de diffusion du savoir et d’information au CNRC et à l’ensemble du milieu de l’innovation au Canada. Cette personne aura comme responsabilité principale de :

  • Dirige une équipe de 7 employés responsables de la prestation des services suivants aux clients du CNRC : soutien à la bibliothèque de première ligne; circulation; archives; collection des livres rares; livraison de documents; prêt entre bibliothèques; acquisitions; entretien des collections; dépannage; et le droit d'auteur et le soutien à l'édition savante.
  • Prévisions, surveillance, mises à jour et rapports sur le budget des collections du CNRC.
  • Supervise la maintenance et les mises à jour des collections dans Sierra, 360 Core et Summon
  • Initie et coordonne divers projets et initiatives d'amélioration des services, en collaboration avec d'autres gestionnaires du SBGI et l'équipe des services des collections.

Vous contribuerez également l'amélioration continue des processus et des services dans l'ensemble du CNRC. Vous ferez partie d'une équipe diversifiée et multidisciplinaire où la communication et le travail d'équipe sont importants.


Études:

Maîtrise en bibliothéconomie ou Maitrise en bibliothéconomie et Sciences de l’information accréditée par la ALA.


Expérience:

  • *Au moins deux (2) ans d'expérience récente dans un poste de gestion similaire (supervision d'équipes, gestion des ressources humaines et gestion de projets).
  • ***Expérience appréciable de la gestion et la prestation de services de bibliothèque.
  • Expérience en gestion de budgets.
  • Expérience dans l'interprétation des politiques, procédures et/ou contrats.
  • Une expérience avec les procédures et les règles qui entourent la gestion financière au sein du Gouverment du Canada, cette experience est un atout.

*Par expérience récente, on entend une expérience acquise au cours des cinq dernières années.

** Par expérience appréciable, on entend une expérience dont l’étendue et la richesse sont associées à
l’exécution de diverses tâches pertinentes durant au moins trois (3) ans au cours des cinq (5) dernières années.

Compensation

From $98,520 to $116,282 per annum. /De 98,520$ à 116,282$ par année.
