Position Title: Strategic Projects Coordinator

Location: Public Library InterLINK

Status: Part-Time, Contract

Job Summary: Public Library InterLINK is looking for a creative Strategic Projects Coordinator with a passion for collaboration and an attention to detail to facilitate library cooperation across the Lower Mainland.

InterLINK believes in building strong libraries and providing the best service to our members. The Strategic Projects Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and administration for InterLINK’s Professional Development program as well as support for other cooperative projects including Provincial Virtual Programming and Mental Wellness initiatives.

Working with the InterLINK staff & contractors, members, other provincial federations, and sectoral partners, the Coordinator ensures access to and awareness of timely, engaging, varied, and accessible professional development opportunities and provides leadership and support to projects aligned with InterLINK’s strategic priorities.

The Coordinator reports to the InterLINK Executive Director.

Duties:

In this position, you will:

  • Work with InterLINK Executive Director and staff to support projects identified through member consultation and strategic planning
  • Continue to refine, develop, and evolve InterLINK’s Professional Development Program
  • Conduct research as necessary (surveys, program opportunities) to determine needs and opportunities
  • Coordinate and administer the creation, scheduling, and logistics of strategic projects and professional development opportunities
  • Represent InterLINK on provincial initiatives involving professional development
  • Provide information for reports for funders and members
  • Support oversight and management of projects’ annual budget, including billing and arrangement of contractors, in consultation with InterLINK’s Business Manager and Executive Director
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including InterLINK staff and contractors, InterLINK Members, Ministry of Municipal Affairs (Public Libraries Branch), other BC Library Federations, BC public libraries, BC Library Association, and other partners
  • Apprise InterLINK Executive Director of updates, developments, milestones, opportunities, and challenges
  • Support program administration, including but not limited to: arranging and coordinating meetings; creating documentation; compiling statistics; managing files; etc.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in library/information science (in progress acceptable) or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and project management skills

  • Commitment to accessibility, anti-racism and inclusivity
  • Experience with Office, WordPress/Drupal, social media platforms, video conferencing, Canva, and online project management tools
  • Power to be creative, take initiative and make evidence-based decisions
  • Ability to work well with little or no direct supervision
  • Knowledge of provincial library sector an asset
  • Experience working in public libraries an asset

Salary: $35 (plus GST if applicable).

Contract Term: This is an annual contract position with 24 hours/week. Contract may be to be extended or renewed for additional years based on funding.

Location: This is a hybrid work contract, with a minimum of one day per week spent at InterLINK’s office in Burnaby, BC. The successful candidate will pay for their own equipment, home office and supplies, including a reliable high speed internet connection, and will supply and maintain their own computer. InterLINK will provide access to all required software for the term of the contract.

Schedule: While most work will be required on weekdays during office hours (i.e. 9-5), InterLINK strives to be flexible and the work schedule will be developed collaboratively with the InterLINK Executive Director.
