User Experience and Liaison Librarian, Library *Term*
The University of Winnipeg Library invites applications for the position of User Experience and Liaison Librarian. This is a 12-month term appointment expected to commence on August 18, 2025 or soon thereafter, subject to final budgetary approval. The successful applicant will be appointed as a Librarian Member of the University of Winnipeg Faculty Association (http://www.uwfa.ca). Appointment at the rank of Librarian I or II, as well as salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.

Position Description
Reporting to the Dean of the Library this Librarian is responsible for liaison duties for multiple subject areas as assigned and various duties based on operational needs including but not limited to library assessment, data collection and analysis, and library systems. The role also includes in-person and online reference duties.
- Provide technical support for M365, including Teams and Sharepoint, (for example, file sharing, permissions, troubleshooting);
- Gather and report on data for internal and external assessment of services and key Library metrics;
- Communicate and collaborate with internal library units;
- Direct initiatives and projects to assess, maintain, and improve student experience;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Develop, deliver, and assess subject-specific information literacy instruction for the departments assigned;
- Conduct both in-person and online information literacy sessions;
- Create research guides or similar content to support information literacy.
- Provide one-on-one or group reference consultations to support faculty, staff, students, and other researchers;
- Respond to basic inquiries from constituent subject areas;
- Triage requests to other relevant library units as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary library contact for the departments assigned;
- Work with library representatives to manage collections budgets;
- Assess collections to ensure they support the curriculum and complete Course Support Statements;
- Advise departments on library services, resources, and programs.
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent;
- Experience with teaching and information literacy skills;
- Basic understanding of library technology and vendors;
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences;
- Commitment to user-centered library service;
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion;
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial environment;
- Ability to engage effectively in planning and problem solving;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- One to two years of professional library experience, ideally in an academic environment;
- Professional experience in collection development, reference, and information literacy at an academic library.
