Job Summary

Status: Fulltime, Temporary from October 1, 2026 until February 28, 2027
Schedule: 35 hours/week, including evenings and weekends

The Makerspace Coordinator leads Maker initiatives at the Library, providing access to a wide array of maker-related equipment, tools, materials and software. They facilitate Makerspace-related outreach and programs in Library branches and other community spaces.

Primary Responsibilities:
Maker Instruction:
• Develops and delivers interactive programs related to hands-on learning and creation utilizing Makerspace materials and equipment
• Teaches patrons of all ages how to use Makerspace-related tools and software, such as 3D printing/scanning, vinyl printing, and embroidery/sewing

Makerspace Coordination:
• Maintains Makerspace equipment and monitors inventory supply levels
• Ensures that safety procedures for equipment operation are observed and adhered to
• Coordinates an ongoing schedule for a variety of Maker-related workshops and projects
• Compiles and submits monthly usage stats for Makerspace initiatives

Outreach:
• Acts as a representative of the Library at community meetings and events
• Schedules and facilitates outreach initiatives as locations throughout the community

Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge:
• Demonstrated knowledge developing and delivering training to a variety of users
• General experience with Maker culture: 3D printing, handicrafts, sound/video production, etc.
• Ability to effectively translate technical information into layman’s terms
• Knowledge of recent trends and current events related to creativity and technology
• Proven interpersonal skills with co-workers and patrons

Education: MLIS, MI, MLS from an accredited Library School, or equivalent, is required.
Experience: Minimum 2 years in a public library or related field.
Requirements: The ability to travel and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening are required.

Compensation

$80,189 annually
