
Job Summary
The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library is a community-focused, single-branch Library serving a diverse population of 42,800. The community includes urban and rural areas with most of the population centered in town, which is on the edge of the GTA and adjacent to the Holland Marsh. Easily accessible from Highways 400, 27 and 11, Bradford is a growing community with an increasing demand for library services.
The Library has an opening for a full-time Manager of Community Engagement. Reporting to the Library CEO this role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives that foster meaningful connections between the Library and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop programming and community engagement strategies that focus on achieving the strategic priorities and initiatives of the Library.
- Provide leadership to the staff and volunteers in the areas of programming and community engagement.
- Schedule and organize work flows to meet operational objectives.
- Work with the staff and community partners to develop innovative programming ideas.
- Represent the library at community events, forums, and meetings.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and evaluation of community-based programs and initiatives.
- Ensure programming is inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs.
- Build relationships with individuals, community organizations, and businesses.
- Understand the local community, responding to queries and concerns from the public.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Masters in Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) from an ALA accredited program.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Library experience with preference given to those in a unionized environment and with experience in the area of Community Engagement.
- At least Two (2) years of leadership experience in a public library environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the range and scope of community engagement and community-led initiatives in a public library.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of technology and its uses/opportunities in a library environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster cooperative working relationships and maintain diplomacy and integrity.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
- Ability to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
The position offers a salary range of $88,361 to $107,403 (2025 rates) based on a 35-hour workweek plus a competitive benefit package. This position includes days, evenings, and weekend shifts as part of a regular schedule.
