The Library Services branch of the Legislative Assembly Office (LAO) provides nonpartisan, confidential, timely and authoritative services to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), their employees, LAO branch staff and members of the public.
The Legislature Library is seeking two Library Technicians to join their team. Working as part of the Library Services branch and reporting to a Library Supervisor, you will provide specialized library services in addition to ensuring that resources are accessible and meet the information requirements of the Library client groups.

You are a client-focused and technologically savvy Library Technician ready to provide support as part of the Library Services team. You have a strong understanding of classification systems like Library of Congress and CODOC as well as MARC and RDA and will apply your strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to implementing these systems. You will use your reference and research skills to meet the information needs of library clients. You project a professional demeanour, tact and judgment in interactions with clients and a commitment to client service.
Bring your excellence to the LAO
Qualified individuals will possess a two-year diploma in library technology from a recognized library technician program, along with two years of relevant experience in a library or related setting, including training or experience in cataloguing and research. Knowledge of SirsiDynix Symphony, Dublin Core, RDA and CODOC are assets. Excellent computer skills, attention to detail and demonstrated interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
Prior experience with or a sound understanding of the parliamentary process is an asset.
