Librarian I

Reporting to the Director of Library Operations this position involves specialized library work within the Technical Services Division of Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries and works closely with the Systems Librarian/Analyst. The incumbent will direct and supervise the work of cataloguers; review organizational policies and procedures; train staff in cataloguing policies and procedures; perform descriptive cataloguing; interpret and use Anglo American Cataloguing Rules 2 (AACR2) and Resource Description and Access (RDA), Library of Congress Subject Headings, Dewey Decimal Classification System and MARC record format; and compile monthly and annual statistical reports, and other related duties.

This position also provides relief to the Systems Librarian/Analyst which reports to the Director of Information Technology and Information Management.  The Systems Librarian/Analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining the NLPL information systems, including the Horizon Integrated Library System (ILS).
