Information Services & Marketing Librarian I:  Full-time (Permanent)

DATE:  February 18, 2025

JOB TITLE:  Information Services & Marketing Librarian

CLASSIFICATION:  Reference Librarian I

HOURS OF WORK:  Thirty-five (35) hours per week.  Schedule is subject to change and is not negotiable.  May include evenings and weekends.

NATURE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Public Services Supervisor, the Information Services & Marketing Librarian splits their time between performing public service duties on the information desks, and creating, scheduling, and responding to the library’s print and social media promotions. This position also attends library events for marketing and promotional purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school.
  2. Demonstrated ability to personally produce high-quality, visually appealing, accessible marketing materials, both online and print. Graphic design experience    an asset.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with social media and social media scheduling technology, newsletters (print and electronic), and digital design
  4. Knowledge of print and electronic information services and resources.
  5. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  6. Proven critical thinking skills.
  7. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  1. Answers requests from the public for information and reference utilizing the resources of the Woodstock Public Library.
  2. Demonstrates customer service excellence in the delivery of reader’s advisory and information requests from the public.
  3. Operates equipment including photocopiers, microfilm readers and printers, personal computers, and peripheral devices.
  4. Performs some circulation functions including placing holds, updating PINs and account status.
  5. Instructs the public in the use of library resources, facilities, and equipment.
  6. Creates and schedules promotional materials for social media, e-Newsletter, and print formats in consultation with programming and supervisory staff.
  7. Represents the voice of the library when responding to social media and email inquiries during scheduled hours, and refers as necessary.
  8. Refers media requests to appropriate senior staff.
  9. Collaborates with Senior Team on the development of promotional and branding strategies and publishing standards.
  10. Collaborates with Outreach staff to promote public engagement.
  11. Assumes the duties of the Person in Charge as scheduled.
  12. Other related duties as assigned.

SALARY RATE AND RANGE:  $37.10/hr to $40.57/hr (2023 rates)
