Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and creative individual for the position of Collections and Resources Specialist who will specialize in collection and resource development for customers of all ages. You will aid in maintaining, creating, and promoting relevant, balanced, and vibrant collections and resources with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion to meet community needs and advance the Library’s mission. Under the supervision of the Manager, Collections and Resources you will provide feedback on the collection’s strategy using an evidence-based approach. You will also aid in the selection and introduction of new, and the elimination of outdated collections, materials, and online services.

Working at all locations, you will provide coverage at the front desk, providing welcoming and engaging library service through instruction, in-depth information, and readers’ advisory services to the public of all ages and assist them with library devices and electronic databases. You may be designated as the person in charge of branch operations in the absence of a manager. Qualifications
• Library Techniques Diploma or combination of post-secondary education and equivalent experience as determined by the employer.
• Minimum one (1) year of public service experience.
• Knowledge of collection development practices and tools, library materials, electronic databases, authors, resources, and trends.
• Understands the principle of intellectual freedom and has the ability to apply, interpret, and explain it.
• Proficiency in actively developing and managing internal and external relationships and community partnerships.
• Ability to provide in-depth reference, readers’ advisory, and circulation services.
• Experience working with a wide range of customers in a customer service setting.
• Experience with various technologies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of library services, operations, and policies.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate projects that involve managing multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities in a busy environment and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem solving, mature judgment, exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of other languages an asset.
• Strong proficiency with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and Online Public Access Catalogues (OPAC); familiarity with Symphony and Bibliocommons an asset.
• Conflict de-escalation training considered an asset.
• Some travel is required; access to a vehicle is required.
• Successful candidate will be required to produce a police check dated within 6 months.

Compensation
Hourly Rate: $30.53 - $35.91
Schedule: 40 hours bi-weekly, including evenings and weekends.
