East Gwillimbury Public Library (www.egpl.ca) serves a growing community in the northern part of York Region, made up of a mix of urban areas and villages. Branches are in the communities of Holland Landing, Mount Albert, and Queensville.

Position Summary
As part of the Library's annual TD Summer Reading Club, the Summer Programs and Events Assistant primarily plans and implements programs for children, tweens, and teens, and represents the Library at various community outreach events. They liaise with external partners, coordinate and disseminate publicity in the community, and create library marketing materials as needed. Additionally, the Assistant will help schedule, coordinate, and instruct teen volunteers for the TD Summer Reading Club and participate in special projects to further the Library's goals under the current Strategic Plan.

Qualifications
• Is currently enrolled in a recognized secondary or post-secondary educational institution. Students in Library, Teaching, or Early Education fields are preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, digital literacy, organization, and research skills.
• Prior experience working with groups of children, such as theatre or camp experience, preferred.
• Ability to work independently and seek support from other staff when needed.
• Ability to adapt and thrive in a busy and changing environment.
• Travel between branches and to community outreach events will be required.

Compensation
$19.50 per hour; 12-week contract

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday; Saturdays and evenings may be required
Position Start Date: Monday, May 25, 2026
Position End Date: Friday, August 14, 2026
