The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic individual with a strong background in marketing and community engagement to be a part of our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Librarian/CEO, this role is responsible for providing leadership to advance the strategic marketing and community development plans of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library. With the support of the Publicity Assistant and Graphic Designer, the Manager, Marketing and Community Development will:

  • Develop and deliver a marketing strategy that includes goals, budget, and tactics for internal and external stakeholders. Establish measures for tracking the success of this strategy and identify areas of continuous improvement.
  • Oversee corporate communications standards and training, corporate graphic standards, and brand management. Oversee content management for electronic and print communications including website content, media responses, social media, and print marketing material.
  • Develop relationships with the business community, service clubs or other organizations as a means of encouraging sponsorship of Library events, programs and services, ensuring that resulting agreements are formalized in alignment with relevant guidelines and policies.
  • Develop and address opportunities for strategic partnerships and community collaboration.
  • Identify trends and demographics and develop and manage system-wide cultural initiatives to ensure they support the library’s strategic directions and are responsive to community needs

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a professional with a post-secondary diploma, degree or post-graduate certificate in Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a public library setting.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to lead the development of strategic marketing functions with a track record in community development.

You are passionate about the value of a thriving library system to healthy communities and will work hard to ensure that KFPL continues to provide excellent service to the communities it serves. You are a gifted communicator, with a particular talent for building consensus and finding creative solutions to complex challenges. You have a management style that constantly seeks to actualize the potential of others. You are a coach, mentor, leader and risk taker with an ability to see the “big picture”, an ability that has been honed by experience.

The Community

Kingston with its unique heritage and character is the major population centre of eastern Ontario. Located on Lake Ontario it is a 2-hour drive from Ottawa and a 2.5-hour drive from Toronto and Montreal. It is home to Queen's University, St. Lawrence College and the Royal Military College. Culture and the arts abound, along with fabulous shopping, dining and outdoor recreational experiences. Kingston offers the quality of life of a smaller community with the amenities of a major centre.

The County of Frontenac covers a large geographical area and KFPL has eleven branches in the County to serve residents and the many cottagers that reside in the County.

Compensation

An attractive and competitive remuneration package will be offered including a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience ($89,271 - $101,010), and a comprehensive benefits package.
