JOB TITLE: Museum Coordinator

On the picturesque shore at the end of the Burrard Inlet lies the Port Moody Station Museum, situated beside Rocky Point Park and across from Brewers Row. The museum is owned and operated by the Port Moody Heritage Society. The Society’s mission is to promote an appreciation of community heritage by preserving and presenting history through exhibits and programs.

The Port Moody Heritage Society is looking for an energetic and creative individual to join our team. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, an effective communicator and is passionate about heritage.

Location: 2734 Murray Street, Port Moody

Job Type & Duration: 6 month contract, Full time; 30 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends

Hourly Rate: $27.00 per hour plus 6% Holiday Pay

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager/Curator in the development, implementation of temporary and permanent physical and digital exhibits.
  • Documentation of artifacts and archival material, updating and maintaining accurate records.
  • Writing and editing museum catalogs, research, museum exhibition invitations, press releases, wall labels and exhibition fact sheets
  • Managing website and social media
  • Assist with museum events and programs whenever necessary
  • Assist in daily museum operation

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Post-secondary education in an area related to the position is desired. Relevant credentials (e.g., diploma, degree) or an appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience in exhibit planning, development, and installation processes is an asset
  • Museum best practices for both exhibits and collections an asset
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Use of vehicle an asset
  • Design skills an asset
