Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced leader to become our new Circulation & Volunteer Supervisor.The successful candidate will be an integral part of merging two previously separate teams and has a critical role in helping staff maintain our excellent customer service orientation.

Duties may change based upon operational needs and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Team building and cross-organizational collaboration
  • Training, including assisting teams with learning new technology
  • Coaching and performance support
  • General supervision, scheduling, and assignment of work
  • Participating in hiring
  • Developing and streamlining procedures for approval
  • Cash oversight, record keeping, statistical reporting
  • Resolving complex patron queries

The successful candidate has: sound knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures related to planning and directing circulation activities; working knowledge of standard library practices and procedures and circulation operations; ability to effectively direct day-to-day circulation activities and to develop or revise related clerical procedures; ability to plan, schedule, assign, supervise, and review the work of a large group of staff and volunteers; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.

The preferred candidate has completed Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable related experience including some supervisory experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:

Union (WVMEA) – Permanent, Full-Time

Hours of Work:

35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Starting Rate of Pay:

$29.12 per hour

(This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.)
