Are you equally passionate about providing programming to children, adults and seniors? Would you enjoy running a preschool storytime, filming videos with technology tips, and creating seniors craft kits? If you answered yes, then we are looking for you! As a member of our collaborative Programming Team, you are an enthusiastic, highly motivated people person who shares our commitment to excellence. You are passionate about working with people of all ages to create and nurture community connections through high-quality, innovative public programming. You will meet the needs of the community by planning and providing engaging programming for all ages; and support the development of new programming and outreach opportunities and initiatives by researching, tracking and reporting on programming trends.
Your flexibility and experience will allow you to seamlessly provide preschool programs as adeptly as technology-focused adult programs or exciting senior engagement opportunities. You will also provide exceptional front line customer service alongside the Library Service Assistant (LSA) Team. You will routinely handle customer account and information services inquiries as required.
Our ideal candidate has a college diploma or university degree in a field related to community programming (e.g. Library Science, Education, Early Childhood Education). You will also have a
minimum of two years of community programming experience; excellent computer skills, with a variety of experience facilitating successful virtual meetings on platforms including Google Meet and Zoom; and knowledge of basic video creation and editing software. Significant knowledge of library programming trends including Makerspace equipment, robotics, coding and educational technologies is an asset.
While being a creative, ideas-person, your superior organizational skills ensure you are capable of balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Your commitment to the position requires flexibility to run programming virtually and at all branches of the library system including evenings and weekends. A police records check with Vulnerable Sector screen, valid Class G driver’s license, and access to reliable transportation is required.
