Recruitment Type: 5 Year Probationary
As a part of the Library team, and under the direction of the University Librarian or designate, this Librarian works collaboratively with all Library unit and other university staff to eliminate/reduce service silos and make library resources more findable by library users, regardless of location or format. The Librarian, User Experience, Outreach, and Assessment develops relationships, seeks out opportunities, and organizes and facilitates the delivery of data driven initiatives that meet the user experience and assessment objectives of RRU and its Library. This Librarian will help to optimize the power of a suite of discovery and retrieval systems, ensuring that they expose the Library’s investment in collections and leverage relevant technologies to provide user-centric services for information access and discovery. Via a team-based, consultative approach, this Librarian gathers evidence and creates buy-in for best practices related to systems and emerging technologies and the integration of those services across the portfolio of services within the Library and elsewhere on campus, ensuring that services remain responsive to the current and future needs of the university user community. The incumbent also provides individualized and group research services to students, faculty, and the wider community, both in-person and online, by providing reference service, conducting research appointments, and delivering relevant, participatory course- related instructional sessions in partnership with faculty that advance the teaching and learning mission of Royal Roads University.
