Librarian, Information Services
Contract position working full-time hours anticipated to November 2021

We are offering an opportunity for a Professional Librarian who is interested in supporting these goals through the development, planning and delivery of engaging high quality programs and services that are responsive to all members of our community.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Information Services you will provide an advanced level of reference and readers’ advisory and technology support services at the Central Library for all members of the community in a way that meets their unique needs, regardless of their age, background, or ability level. This includes customers that may be living with addiction, mental illness or experiencing homelessness. You are current with the issues and trends of the profession and capable of supporting and developing partnership opportunities and representing the library within the community. As a Professional Librarian at Kitchener Public Library, you will exercise your supervisory skills to support the department and act as the scheduled Person-in-Charge (PIC) to ensure the smooth operation of the library system.

Our ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication and instructional skills, teamwork and organizational abilities; a familiarity with new and emerging technologies; an interest in developing technological resources in order to further the provision of Information Services; and experience in creating and maintaining partnerships with community agencies and organizations. Excellent public service skills to interact positively and build relationships with customers in a way that meets their unique needs, regardless of their age, background, or ability level are also essential. An MLS, MIS, or MLIS is also a requirement of this position.
