SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Humber Libraries is looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Business, Health & Wellness Librarian. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for teaching information and digital literacy competencies to learners through various modalities to support programs and courses in the Faculties of Business and Health Sciences & Wellness. In collaboration with faculty at the North campus, the incumbent will also develop collections to support Business and Health curricula. The Business and Health Sciences & Wellness Librarian will provide research help services both in person and via the Library’s text/chat service AskON.
The successful incumbent will also accommodate individual consultations with students and faculty who require research assistance. This new position will work collaboratively with the librarian team, particularly with the Business & e-Learning Librarian and the Health & Wellness Librarian, to develop and support e-learning initiatives. Collaborating with other college departments to plan and deliver relevant, user-centred services is a key part of the role, with a particular focus on Humber’s Applied Research and Innovation department for which the incumbent will provide research support to faculty engaged in applied research projects. Participation in college and consortium literacy and learning committees and special interest groups to share and build knowledge and identify best practices is part of this function.
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Studies from an American Library Association accredited institution. Advanced knowledge of information and digital literacy skill development in post-secondary education is essential. At least three years professional experience delivering information literacy and research help services as an academic liaison is strongly desired. A business or health sciences undergraduate degree would be a strong asset. Additional qualifications include: being incredibly tech-savvy; excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills; strong problem solving, advocacy, project management, relationship building and interpersonal skills; a proven commitment to customer service and to working in a collaborative and collegial team environment; the demonstrated ability to multi-task a variety of responsibilities and projects, and adaptability within a variety of professional contexts.
