London Public Library is seeking a strategic, creative, and collaborative leader to become Chief Executive Officer.

The Chief Executive Officer will be accountable for leading the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan, objectives, and goals in alignment with the Library’s Purpose and Values. Additionally, the Chief Executive Officer will shape the Library’s culture as an effective leader who inspires, supports, and engages staff while fostering an environment of continuous learning, creative thinking, and innovation. This dynamic senior leader will demonstrate a commitment to customer service and will build and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships, both internally and externally, for the ongoing development, delivery, and sustainability of the organization.

Under the direction of the Library Board, the CEO will ensure that the Library is well-positioned to serve the rich diversity of the London community by providing relevant, accessible, high quality library services; effective operations and the execution of innovative solutions; and fiscal accountability, stewardship, risk management and fund development.

To qualify for this rewarding career opportunity:

  • You will have a minimum of 10 years of senior management experience in a complex public organization.
  • You will possess a Master of Library and Information Science degree and/or graduate degree in Public Administration or relevant combination of education and experience.
  • You will be a highly principled leader who values access, community engagement, diversity and inclusiveness, intellectual freedom, privacy, respect, and service excellence.
  • You will be well-versed in organizational leadership, strategic planning, operations management, project management, public relations and marketing, finance, customer service, human resources, and partnership development with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will have the ability to develop and maintain successful community strategic alliances and partnerships with other organizations to the benefit of the library system and community.
  • You will have governance experience including demonstrated success working with a governance Board and Board Committees.
  • You will possess political acumen and a proven ability to work with municipal, provincial, and federal levels of government.
  • You will have previous experience working within a unionized environment.
  • You will have a demonstrated ability to immerse yourself in the local community in order to understand the rich diversity of the London population.
