Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is mandated to provide non-partisan support to the Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs).

Together, we provide administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Information Services Student Assistant

(Summer Contract:May 2019 to September 2019)

The Information Services Branch provides services to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario by capturing, organizing, preserving and managing the information assets of the Assembly. We are currently seeking a Student Assistant for the summer to support a variety of projects that contribute to the service goals of the Branch.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Work collaboratively with internal staff members
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in a politically sensitive environment
  • You’ll support our community as you:

  • Digitize and apply metadata to library resources
  • Add digital copies to the library repository
  • Ensure completeness of serial holdings
  • Make the library’s microfilm collection discoverable
  • How You Qualify

    You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Experience as a College or University student, must be enrolled full time in an accredited post-secondary program for the fall/winter term (September to March), working toward a graduate library degree or library technician diploma
  • Knowledge of the principles of metadata and controlled vocabularies and their applications (knowledge of RDA an asset)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite, particularly Word, and some experience with content management systems (such as Springshare’s LibGuides)
  • Knowledge of acquisitions and cataloguing modules of an integrated library system (such as Voyager)
  • Accuracy and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage your time
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible and adaptable
