TAY TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY
Tay Township is located just off the Highway 400 corridor in the southern area of beautiful Georgian Bay, with convenient access 1 1/2 hours north of Toronto. The libraries are located in the Villages of Port McNicoll, Victoria Harbour, and Waubaushene. The Township boasts pristine water front, marinas, full time and seasonal residents, full-service communities, cultural events and a multitude of year-round social gatherings/activities. Simcoe County offers easy access to lakes, golf courses, fishing, hunting, hiking trails, sport and recreation facilities and open air markets, just to mention a few.
Reporting to the Tay Township Public Library Board, the Library CEO is responsible for providing the vision and leadership required for the development and management of the public library service for the Township of Tay.The Tay Township Public Library (www.tay.library.on.ca) is a small-sized Ontario library system consisting of three branches in Tay Township. The Township population includes some 10,000 permanent residents which more than doubles with summer visitors. In addition to the full-time Library CEO, the Library employs three part-time branch librarians, rotating circulation-technical services clerks and students when grants permit. The annual operating budget currently exceeds $360,000. The collection of more than 43,000 titles includes books, magazines and DVDs, and a special collection of local history reference books. The library also has a significant catalogue system in partnership with the Simcoe County Library Cooperative and more through the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS).Programming for various age groups, book clubs, computer instruction, and reference services provide additional support to Tay Township residents. A well-established “Friends of the Library" group provides program support and limited fundraising for the system.
Qualifications for the position include American Library Association Accredited Master of Library and Information Science degree or equivalent work experience and five to seven years of progressive public library experience with at least 3 years in a management position. Candidates for this position must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
The salary range for the position is $68,504.80 - $80,680.60.annually, with provision for paid sick and vacation absence in an interesting and positive work environment. The successful candidate must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License with access to a vehicle, as they are expected to drive between branches regularly.
