Job Summary

CEHPL is looking for a passionate and innovative Fundraising and Events Coordinator to help celebrate our milestone anniversary and lay the foundation for a sustainable tradition of support for CEHPL through events. This position will play a critical role in developing and growing the Library’s brand over the year and creating excitement and awareness around CEHPL’s role and services.

 

Reporting to the Executive Director and Chief Librarian and working closely with the Regional Management Team and the Event Planning Committees, the Coordinator will take a leading role in the upcoming CEHPL 75th Anniversary celebrations. The Coordinator will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of signature events, including a high-profile fundraising gala.

 

Under the direction of the Executive Director and Chief Librarian, the Coordinator will also develop an exhibit commemorating 75 years of public library service in the region. The Coordinator will work alongside the regional management team and library staff in support of the planning and implementation of the strategic long-term vision of CEHPL.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research of similar events and milestone celebrations to ensure CEHPL is in line with nationally recognized best practices. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to collaborate and build relationships with library contacts throughout Canada while conducting environmental scans of other jurisdictions.
  • Oversee, develop, and implement a vision and plan for signature events across the region, aligning with CEHPL’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, and oversee the implementation of high-profile library programs and special events at the library, including a fundraising gala.
  • Identify and build relationships with donors and potential donors and actively seek out opportunities to secure funding and support from local businesses (including in-kind), service clubs, and individuals.
  • Lead the development of regular donor communication and stewardship for individuals and corporate donors.
  • The Coordinator will have the opportunity to partner with the regional management team and engage staff and stakeholders at various levels in a collaborative environment.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Assist in ongoing social media and marketing initiatives.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

  • Related degree in project management, fund development and/or event planning. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Experience in marketing and/or public relations
  • We value non-traditional experience and candidates are encouraged to outline in their application any community-based experience they possess, including volunteering and extra-curricular activities.

 

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a confidential environment and demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills are required
  • Project management experience would be considered an asset
  • Graphic design experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation would be considered an asset
  • Proficient with software applications including email and calendar programs, social media platforms, photo and video editing software, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Salary, Leave, and Benefits

The position will be classified as a Librarian I, Step 1 on CEHPL’s Classification Structure, with a starting salary of $26.22/hour. It will be a full-time (35 hours/week) position, with 2 weeks paid vacation and sick leave in accordance with CEHPL’s relevant leave policies. Contract end date is January 30, 2026, an extension maybe possible.

 

This position is not eligible for pension or benefits.

 

A valid driver’s license and ability to manage own travel through the region may be required.

 

An employment offer for this position will be conditional on satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector’s check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

 

Compensation

$26.22 per hour
