About the branch:

Yukon Public Libraries is made up of 15 public libraries throughout the Yukon, with the bulk of the administrative work occurring at the central branch at Whitehorse Public Library. Our work is situated in the beautiful Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, next to the Yukon River, and close to coffee shops and walking trails. About the job:

Reporting to the Director, Public Libraries, the Outreach Librarian is responsible for providing a variety of services in Whitehorse and across the Yukon Territory. The Outreach role is a dynamic one that requires creativity, initiative, and leadership. This position is the main link with Departmental Communications, developing promotional campaigns for print and web, and is the lead in program partnerships, developing programs within and sometimes outside of the physical library.  As part of the Library Management Team, the Outreach Librarian provides input to the Director on strategic planning and policies. As part of the Information Services Team, the Outreach Librarian provides regular reference services to the public and leads the team in incident management when necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note that selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Masters in Library Science from an accredited university
  • Experience using library research and reference tools, including integrated library systems (ILS)
  • Experience writing promotional materials such as blogs, brochures, or social media
  • Experience providing library services to the public
  • Experience creating and developing programs
  • Experience in leading a team would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in French would be considered an asset

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Job Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel throughout the territory.
  • Librarians work on rotation. Hours could include some evenings and weekends.

Compensation

Salary $85,225.00 - $98,818.00
