Medicine Hat College invites applications for a full time, regular Open Access Librarian (Library Assistant IV).
A little about the role:
Medicine Hat College is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Open Access Librarian to join our vibrant library team.
What You’ll Do:
- Champion open access initiatives that expand equitable access to knowledge and scholarly resources. This includes being the advocate for Open Educational Resources and Pressbooks.
- Serve as a copyright consultant, guiding employees through Canadian copyright law and best practices.
- Teach information literacy skills to students across disciplines, empowering them to navigate and evaluate information critically.
- Provide expert library services and support to students and employees.
- Act as a liaison librarian for assigned departments, fostering strong academic partnerships.
As a successful applicant you will have:
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
- A minimum of 1-year related experience.
- Equivalent combinations of post-secondary education and work experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of Open Access principles and initiatives.
- Experience teaching library information literacy skills.
- Knowledge of Canadian copyright law, jurisprudence, and procedures.
- Knowledge of trends in library and information science fields.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Wage Rate: $28.28 per hour (Start Rate); $31.60 per hour (Job Rate)
