ABOUT THE TEAM
Library and Academic Services (LAS) is a collaborative, student-centered team dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where learners can thrive. We support student success by connecting students, faculty, and staff with the information, resources, and technology they need, while fostering information literacy, independent research skills, and confidence in navigating academic resources.
As part of LAS, you will join a supportive team committed to exceptional service, continuous improvement, and innovation. Together, we deliver accessible support across multiple service channels, enhance the user experience through resource development and service improvements, and collaborate on initiatives that strengthen learning and engagement across the College community.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide friendly, responsive, and helpful service at library service points, assisting students, staff, and faculty with accessing and using library resources, services, and technology. Support users with borrowing and returning materials, equipment loans, technology support, wayfinding, and navigating library systems and services. Deliver reference and information services in person and through a variety of service channels, helping users locate, evaluate, and use information resources. Provide guidance at the service desk on the use of library discovery tools, databases, online resources, and other library systems, and support information discovery.
Support library operations by assisting users with printing, scanning, and troubleshooting library equipment and technology. Maintain daily service desk operations by completing opening and closing tasks, monitoring and tidying library spaces, and ensuring library facilities are welcoming and functional. Perform circulation activities including maintaining patron records and supporting equipment loans, as well as collection maintenance activities such as shelving and shelf reading. Assist with maintaining library guides and other user-facing resources, contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment for all users, and assist with projects and initiatives as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Diploma in Library and Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in library and information services
  • Experience providing customer service in a front-line, high-volume environment
  • Experience using library discovery tools, databases, catalogues, and other information resources to support users in locating and accessing information
  • Experience providing reference and information assistance to a diverse range of users
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide friendly, responsive, and helpful service to a diverse range of users
  • Proficiency with common computer applications and the ability to learn and use new systems and technologies
  • Experience troubleshooting technology and assisting users with computers, printing, scanning, or other technology-related services
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
NICE TO HAVE
  • Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to adopt new technologies
  • Awareness of the ethical, societal, and policy considerations related to AI
  • Experience working in a post-secondary library or academic environment
  • Experience updating online guides, web content, or other user-facing resources

  • Salary Range for this position:  $45,052 - $63,505 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
