About the branch:

Yukon Public Libraries operates 15 public libraries in communities throughout the Yukon, and have improved the library services around the territory to meet the need to Yukoners of all ages. Yukon Public Libraries support the growth and development of Yukon people, associations and communities through a public libraries network by providing community education, information, culture and recreation opportunities and resources for life-long learning and an educated, informed and healthy public.

Your role

The role of a Community Services employee reaches across the territory. Your strong will to better your community will empower Yukoners to lead healthy, productive, and resilient lives through accessible and integrated programs.

The Library Assistant (LA) is responsible for providing a wide range of public library services to the general public and library patrons, providing reception, administrative, technical and other support services to Yukon Public Libraries.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

Experience providing client service in a library or other customer-focused environment;

Experience assisting members of the public with basic questions, other information and/or technology-related needs;

Experience using various computer software (e.g., MS Office, Internet, e-mail); and

Experience using an Integrated Library System (ILS) software would be considered an asset;

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.

Ability to conduct detail-oriented work, and manage conflicting priorities in a busy environment;

Ability to work as part of a team;

Advanced communication and interpersonal skills;

Ability to troubleshoot a variety of computer software programs; and

Ability to perform routine tasks with accuracy in an environment with constant interruptions.
