Come join our team at Capilano University Library! We are seeking a library technician to join us as Supervisor, Technical Services at our North Vancouver Campus.

About the Position

The Supervisor, Technical Services oversees day-to-day operations and provides leadership and coordination of duties for staff in the Technical Services Department (five full-time staff). In this role, you will prioritize and assign work, schedule departmental workflows (including coordinating time off requests and work schedules), and oversee the area’s quality assurance. You will train and coach Technical Services staff, participate in selection committees, and support the University Librarian in goal setting and performance management for your direct reports.

Both strong supervisory and technical capacity are required for this role. We are seeking a candidate with supervisory or other applicable leadership experience, strong financial and numerical literacy (for oversight of library acquisitions), and skills in applying cataloguing standards. Knowledge of technical services workflows and ILS applications, particularly those which relate to acquisitions and cataloguing processes, are central to this role. Experience within a formal technical services department is not necessary if other experience can be shown as commensurate. Remuneration and Benefits

This position is classed as pay group 24. The pay scale current to June 2022 is found on page 154 of the MoveUp/Capilano University Collective Agreement, and ranges from $4,998.00 per month at Step One (estimated $32.88 hourly), to $5,625.00 monthly at Step Five (estimated at $37.01 hourly).

Working Conditions

Work week: 35 hours per week. CapU offers an opportunity to request a compressed work schedule for modified work weeks.
