Come join our team at Capilano University Library! We are seeking a library technician to join us as Supervisor, Technical Services at our North Vancouver Campus.
About the Position
The Supervisor, Technical Services oversees day-to-day operations and
provides leadership and coordination of duties for staff in the Technical
Services Department (five full-time staff). In this role, you will prioritize
and assign work, schedule departmental workflows (including coordinating time
off requests and work schedules), and oversee the area’s quality assurance. You will train and coach
Technical Services staff, participate in selection committees, and support the
University Librarian in goal setting and performance management for your direct
reports.
Both strong supervisory and technical capacity are required for this role.
We are seeking a candidate with supervisory or other applicable leadership
experience, strong financial and numerical
literacy (for oversight of library acquisitions), and skills in applying cataloguing standards.
Knowledge of technical services workflows and ILS applications, particularly those which relate to acquisitions and
cataloguing processes, are central to this role. Experience within a formal technical services
department is not necessary if other experience can be shown as commensurate.
If you are excited about the opportunity to lead our Technical Services team,
we want to hear from you.
Please review the Job Specification for a
full description of the required
skills, education, and experience. If you do
not meet all of the requirements exactly, but have commensurate experience or
education, please explain in your cover letter. We welcome interested
applicants from diverse experience and educational backgrounds.
