Teen Services Associate

This is a permanent part-time position.

The Teen Services Associate provides support for teen services including programming and collection development for ages 12-17. The Teen Services Associate also participates in the delivery of frontline services related to circulation, reference and reader’s advisory.

Reliable transportation to work between the four library branches in Lincoln and Pelham is required.

Work hours: Approximately 50 hours over a 2-week period

Education: Library Technician’s Diploma or relevant University degree

Experience: Minimum one-year applicable experience, preferably in a public library setting. Experience working with teens ages 12-17 is preferred.

Other competencies or skills required:

  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library services, programming and collection development for teens.
  • A broad knowledge of the intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical development of adolescents. Genuine respect for teens and an ability to establish rapport with them.
  • Demonstrated success in programming for teens.
  • Computer experience including Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Internet, electronic database, digital platforms, etc. Experience using an Integrated Library System (ILS) an asset.
  • Reader’s advisory for all age groups.
  • Ability to learn and stay current with emerging technology, including digital media.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong public service orientation; demonstrated ability to deliver quality customer services while dealing with multiple tasks and frequently shifting priorities.
  • Commitment to participate in professional development opportunities relevant to this position.

Compensation: Starting rate of pay for this position is $33.75 per hour.

Availability days, evenings and weekends needed.
